Job Title: Supervisor- Child Care Operations

The District of Sault Ste. Marie Social Services Administration Board is searching for a Temporary Child Care Operations Supervisor to join our team based in Sault Ste. Marie.

Reporting to the Early Years Manager the Supervisor will provide oversight for directly delivered licensed Early Years’ programs and assist in delivery of the Quality Assurance framework as required.

Key duties and responsibilities include:

• Oversee staff and provide daily supervision of DSSMSSAB directly delivered licensed programs in accordance with DSSMSSAB policies and applicable legislation.
• Provide ongoing coaching and feedback to DSSMSSAB childcare staff.
• Assist in ensuring direct delivery licensed program policies, procedures, and handbooks are reviewed and revised in accordance with current legislation.
• Support the Quality Assurance framework across the system.
• Promote program collaboration and cross-sectoral partnership within the Child Care and Early Years’ sector to build capacity.
• Develop and maintain positive working relationships with parents, Early Years’ and Child Care service providers and potential partners.
• Conduct observations and reviews of the directly delivered programs in accordance with Ministry of Education pedagogy and directive.
• Coordinate the development of program action plans based on evaluations and in the interest of continuous improvement.
• Identify direct delivery program needs and trends that demonstrate and support quality.
• Provide input on both directly delivered and system wide plans, building on strengths and identifying issues in the Early Years’ service system.
• Assist in the establishment of a recruitment and retention strategy for Registered Early Childhood Educators internally and across the system.
• Remain current on research and best practices related to Early Years’ pedagogy including How Does Learning Happen?, literacy and operations; adhere to all professional standards and Ministry regulations and requirements.
• Adhere to the Occupational Health and Safety Act, local policies and practices relating to a healthy workplace.
• Participate in educational opportunities; maintain personal networks and participate in professional organizations.
• Perform all other related duties as may be required.

The successful candidate will have superior interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills, as well as an ability to communicate with others in an effective and tactful manner. The successful candidate will have the ability to facilitate understanding of Ministry of Education approved pedagogy and possess a comprehensive knowledge of the best practices within the Early Years Sector.

Additional qualifications for this position include:

• Post-secondary diploma from an accredited College in a related field. (i.e. Early Childhood Education,
Psychology, Child Development, Social Work, etc.)
• Minimum three (3) years’ experience in the Early Years sector;
• Member in good standing with the College of Early Childhood Educators an asset.
• Valid Ontario Driver’s license and access to a reliable vehicle.
• Ability to communicate in both official languages considered an asset

Salary Range: $82,795 – $98,558
Job Class: Non-Union JC 4
Job Type: Temporary Full-Time (up to 18 months); 35 hour work-week; 8:30am-4:30pm. Shifts may vary slightly, and additional hours may be required to facilitate required staffing levels and scheduling.
