Job Title: Financial Analyst

The District of Sault Ste. Marie Social Services Administration Board is searching for a Financial Analyst in our Corporate Services division to join our team based in Sault Ste. Marie.

The Financial Analyst is responsible for the coordination of the financial activities, maintaining accurate records, financial documentation and ensuring financial compliance with program requirements.

Key duties and responsibilities include:

• To work with the DSSMSSAB partner agencies to ensure reporting and reconciliation requirements meet all Federal, Provincial and DSSAB funding mandate, providing training and support as needed
• Develop internal policies and accountability measures to support the funding provided, within parameters outlined for each period
• Assist with financial forecasting and the preparation of annual budgets and funding allocation
• Research, analyze and provide recommendations on internal monitoring options that align with provincial directives as they become available.
• Ensure all reconciliations are standardized, retained and supporting documentation available for Provincial auditing purposes
• Prepare all accounts and documentation to align with reporting systems
• Ongoing review and oversight of work order and invoice entries and operations spend
• Adheres to the Occupational Health and Safety Act, local policies and practices relating to a healthy workplace.
• Strong knowledge of IFRS, GAAP, and other relevant accounting standards.
• Ability to interpret financial data, identify trends, and detect discrepancies
• Ensuring compliance with financial regulations and ethical standards.
• Ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams (e.g., finance, operations, senior management).
• Performs other related duties as required.

The successful candidate will have the ability to communicate in a professional and tactful manner, be highly organized and resourceful, and be a self-motivated learner with a commitment to professional growth and development as well as have advanced working knowledge of Microsoft Products, specifically Excel.
Additional qualifications for this position include:

• Post-secondary degree in Business Administration or related field;
• Minimum two (2) to three (3) years’ experience in financial analysis, public sector reporting, or related area.
• Ability to communicate in both official languages is considered an asset

Salary Range:   $73, 014 – $86, 908

Work Hours:     35 hour work-week, 8:30am -4:30pm
