The District of Sault Ste. Marie Social Services Administration Board (DSSAB) recently partnered with SooToday’s Random Acts of Kindness team to help deliver a memorable start to summer for local children living in our housing communities.

As students returned home from school, families were welcomed to a neighbourhood barbecue and surprised with an initiative designed to support active, healthy, and engaged summer recreation. Children received items such as scooters, sports equipment, water bottles, backpacks, YMCA summer passes, SportChek gift cards, and information on KidSport funding to help reduce barriers to participation in recreation activities.

The event also included participation from local emergency services, giving children and families an opportunity to connect with police, fire, and paramedic teams and explore their equipment firsthand.
