Community Housing and Development operates a selection of Market Rent units across Sault Ste. Marie. These units follow the annual Rent Increase Guidelines set by the Province of Ontario. Market Rent units offer safe, well-maintained housing options for individuals and families who meet standard eligibility requirements.

Market Rent Unit Criteria

To be eligible for a market rent unit, your household must meet the following criteria.

Age & Independent Living

At least one household member must be 16+, able to live independently, and have legal status in Canada (including individuals on student/visitor visas or work permits).

No Enforceable Termination Order

No member of your household can have an enforceable Termination Order from a previous tenancy with SSMHC.

No Outstanding Arrears

You must provide proof of payment for any arrears owed to a public or private housing provider in Ontario.
