Housing and homelessness continue to be significant challenges across Northern Ontario, and the realities facing northern communities require solutions designed for the North.
New research from NOSDA highlights the disproportionate rates of homelessness experienced across the North, along with the unique barriers our communities face, including higher construction and operating costs, limited rental markets, aging housing stock, geographic distances and gaps in affordable and supportive housing.
As a member of NOSDA, we support the continued call for sustainable, Northern-focused approaches that recognize these realities and help communities build the housing and supports people need.
We encourage our community and partners to read the findings and learn more about the work being done to advocate for Northern Ontario.
