A recent SooToday Jobs of the Future feature takes a closer look at the profession and the evolving role of paramedics in Sault Ste. Marie.

While emergency response remains a core part of the profession, paramedics are increasingly supporting patients in different ways across the health-care system. Through programs such as Community Paramedicine, paramedics can provide care outside of traditional emergency response, helping support residents in their homes and connecting patients with appropriate services and resources.

For DSSAB, recruitment, retention, workforce development and the continued evolution of Paramedic Services are important parts of planning for both current and future community needs.
