Social Services Awareness Week 2022

Sault Ste. Marie, ON – The annual Social Services Awareness week is set to kick off June 6th – 10th in Sault Ste. Marie. In order to bring recognition to the various services available in the community, local social service agencies have come together to plan numerous events to foster community engagement after a long and challenging couple of years. Now more than ever, our agencies are seeking to re-engage with the community we serve.

Schedule of daily events:

Monday, June 6 – Random Acts of Kindness

Teams from local agencies will be performing random acts of kindness in different areas of the city. Maybe you will be one of the lucky recipients of a kind act.

Tuesday, June 7 – Gore Street Pop-Up Café 12 noon-3PM

Join the staff of various social service agencies as they share a coffee, refreshments, and friendly conversation with everyone who wants to stop by. Looking to get vaccinated? There will be a pop-up Algoma Public Health vaccine clinic available on-site. Open to the public, no registration required.

Wednesday, June 8 – Mall Information Booths 11AM-2PM

Visit the dozens of social service agencies information booths in the Station Mall.

Thursday, June 9 – Downtown Cleanup

See if you can spot our cleanup crews picking up any debris leftover from the winter and beautifying the downtown. If you see us out, wave at our hard-working staff for support!

Friday, June 10 – PD Day Family Fun at the Bushplane Museum 11AM-2PM

Open to the public. Free event. Crafts, activities, games, giveaways, complimentary refreshments and Lock City Dairy cold treats. Come join in on the fun!
