The Building Maintenance and Construction (BMC) program is helping develop the next generation of skilled trades workers in Sault Ste. Marie through a partnership between the Sault Community Career Centre, Sault Ste. Marie Construction Association, and DSSAB. The free 10-week program combines classroom instruction, hands-on renovation experience, and industry-recognized safety certifications to prepare participants for employment in the construction sector.

Since launching in 2025, the program has trained more than 50 participants, with many moving directly into employment opportunities. By connecting job seekers with practical training and employers with qualified candidates, the program is helping address local labour shortages while creating pathways to meaningful careers in the skilled trades.
