Emergency Childcare Application Information

On January 3, 2022, the Province announced a range of time-limited public health actions to help curb the spread of COVID-19. As part of this announcement, starting January 5, 2022, all elementary schools, publicly funded and private, will be closed for in-person learning. Students enrolled in publicly funded schools will move to virtual learning.

Starting on Monday, January 10, 2022 targeted Emergency Child Care for school-aged children will be available for eligible health care and essential frontline workers.

Applications will be reviewed in order of receipt and prioritized as per Provincial direction. Once spaces have been filled, a waitlist for care will be established.

How to apply for Emergency Child Care:
1. Go to the District of Sault Ste. Marie Child Care Registry at www.saultchildcare.ca
2. If you are a new applicant, create a new account.
• Returning users log into your existing account.
3. Complete the parent and child details information screens.
4. Apply to EMERGENCY CHILD CARE as the child care site.
5. Click that fee subsidy is NOT required.
