Housing Programs

The District of Sault Ste. Marie Social Services Administration Board (DSSMSSAB) assumed responsibility for the administration of Social Housing from the provincial government on March 1, 2002. The DSSMSSAB has contracted with the municipality of Sault Ste. Marie, through the Housing Programs Division, to administer both the provincial and federal Non-profits and Cooperatives within it's jurisdiction.

Housing Programs, on behalf of the DSSMSSAB and as part of their administration, ensures all housing providers are adhering to required legislation, local polices and procedures, service agreements and federal agreements. Housing Programs works mutually with the providers to ensure the best delivery of these important programs.
