Applying for Housing

Anyone can apply for Social Housing, however not everyone will be eligible. There are a number of factors that will determine if you can get subsidized housing.

Eligibility Criteria

Individuals and families who do not require subsidized housing and are interested in units in any of these buildings, can apply directly to each Social Housing Provider.

Federal Non-Profit Housing

Formerly administered by the Federal Government as part of the Canada Mortgage and Housing Corporation (CMHC), this program was devolved to the local level with its Provincial counterparts. Non-Profit housing is owned and operated on a not-for-profit basis by community based non-profit corporations. They receive subsidy funding from the DSSMSSAB and provide housing for market, rent-geared-to-income (RGI) and special needs residents.
