Mission Statement

The District of Sault Ste. Marie Social Services Administration Board will serve and be accountable to the people of Sault Ste. Marie, Prince Township and defined unincorporated areas by assuring the provision of designated social services.  The Board will ensure that services meet specified performance standards. 

To achieve this Mission, the DSSAB will:

  • Ensure compliance with the DSSAB Act and all other relevant legislation.
  • Conduct all DSSAB activity through expression of key values such as respect, trust, equity and fairness.
  • Ensure that all DSSAB stakeholders are able to participate in planning and decision making.
  • Maintain an organizational culture with high professional standards, ethical practices and positive working relationships.
  • Meet the needs of service users through the provision of high quality, efficient, accessible programs and with seamless links between the programs.
  • Plan and develop a comprehensive, integrated and cost effective service system through: 

(I) co-ordination of existing DSSAB services
(ii) collaboration with other organizations
(iii) advocating for government support of new programs to support community needs.

  • Develop and maintain fair cost sharing arrangements for the three designated jurisdictions as defined in the District Social Services Administration Boards Act.
  • Keep the community informed of DSSAB activity and respond to policy issues as they arise.
  • Provide consistent, uniform support to DSSAB organizations in the negotiation of service contracts, budgeting models and performance targets.
