Common Room Rules

Sault Ste. Marie Housing Corporation provides access to the buildings’ common facilities to all tenants and their guests and does not endorse any organized activities not conducted by the Sault Ste. Marie Housing Corporation.  All participants agree to voluntarily release, forever discharge and agree to indemnify and hold harmless the Sault Ste. Marie Housing Corporation from any and all claims, demands, or causes of action, which are in any way connected to a tenants or guests participation in any activity or use of the Sault Ste. Marie Housing Corporation’s equipment or facilities, including any such claims which allege negligent acts or omissions of the Sault Ste. Marie Housing Corporation (SSMHC).

  1. The Common Room located in each adult building shall be kept open for use by all residents at all times.  The room will be locked if deemed necessary due to vandalism, theft or other problems.
  1. The Building Custodian shall be responsible to the SSMHC for ensuring that these guidelines are maintained.  Any permitted changes are the perogative of the SSMHC.
  1. In all cases, SSMHC Tenant Support staff shall be approached if any individual or group requests use of the Common Room to hold a meeting or function.  The Tenant or Tenant Groups must sign a Common Room Use/Rental Agreement (click here for a fillable PDF version) before the room can be utilized and abide by the conditions outlined within the agreement.
  1. All functions or meetings will be booked by Tenant Support staff to prevent any duplication.
  1. In all cases when tenants gather informally, all tenants in attendance are responsible for:
  1. putting away of furniture as required
  2. any damage
  3. leaving the room in a clean condition

              * Tenant Charges will be administered if the room is not left clean. *

  1. The tenant is responsible for the actions of their guests and will be held accountable for any damages caused by their guest.
  1. Alcoholic beverages are not allowed.
  1. Children are not allowed in the Common Room or any room made available to tenants of the building unless accompanied by a resident.
  1. Pets/animals are not allowed in the Common Room or any room made available to tenants of the building.
  1. Commercial parties are not allowed in Common Rooms.
  1. No items are to be posted on SSMHC Common Room or building notice boards without permission from Tenant Support staff.
  1. If any clarification is required regarding usage of the Common Room, please contact Tenant Support staff.
  1. Please do not pin or tape any notices, letters, or flyers on the walls in the common room.

REMEMBER, THE COMMON ROOM IS FOR ALL RESIDENTS OF THE BUILDING
